The information on this page summarizes NAV'B's role and processes with regard to the Policy on Engagement with Third-party Online Program Management Providers (OPMs).
- This policy is to help ensure the most favorable relationship and financial terms possible while also protecting UC Berkeley’s reputation and brand. It supports compliance with associated laws, particularly regarding ADA compliance and data security/privacy, while also ensuring IP and copyright protections are in place. Finally, it provides the EVCP’s Office with the transparency needed to make informed decisions that ensure campus partners receive the greatest benefit possible through participation in online education programs.
NAV'B's Process for Engaging with Third Party Vendors and OPMs:
- UC Berkeley unit completes our contact and service request form (link below).
- Engagement with the UC Berkeley unit that will be proposing and developing an academic program.
- Assessing if a 3rd party vendor or OPM will be used in the offering of the program, and to what degree.
- Consultations and continued information gathering.
- Financial modeling and completion of Office of Financial Planning's Pro Forma (if necessary) with guidance from Financial Planning and NAV-B
- NAV-B Advisory Board reviews the proposal and makes recommendations on moving forward.
- Testing (either content, platform or both) and analysis for accessibility, data security and data privacy.
- EVCP review and determination on moving to contract negotiations.
- NAV-B leads contract negotiations, and works closely with OLA, BCBP, SCM, and academic partner unit.
- EVCP reviews draft contract and edits or approves.
